Updated for 2017!
Disney Fashionistas are familiar with the term Disney Dooney. These are handbags created by the famed Dooney & Bourke company with a Disney inspired design. And while we talk a lot about saving money here at Cheapskate Princess, sometimes you just have to splurge on a quality souvenir to bring home from vacation.
Purses are so popular as merchandise items at resorts and parks, they now have key chains shared like purses.
Dooney & Bourke handbags are not cheap, and it’s really hard to pay anything less than retail prices. They don’t ever seem to go on sale. You’ll spend $150 to over $350 for certain sized bags. We call this a Princess Extravagance. That purse will last you years and years if you take proper care of the item.
If that’s not fitting in your vacation bags, then don’t even turn the tags over on purses in gift shops. They’l’ be hard to miss though, because a small amount of handbags are sold in just about every gift shop on property, plus gift shops in the theme parks.
Where can you shop with a large selection?
One of the best places to shop for different styles of Disney Dooneys is the Marketplace Co-op at Disney Springs. At the D Springs Co-op you will find unique new shops, plus products and retail concepts being tested in this Disney fan’s shopping paradise. Now merchandise does change often, but look for the purse section, and you’ll find the largest selection of Disney Dooneys that I have discovered on Disney property.
All the Marketplace shops feature merchandise you just never knew you NEEDED until you stopped in, and here you are, itching to make a purchase.
Just as an example, let’s take a look at the handbags they were selling in November of 2016.

Self-parking at Disney Springs is complimentary. You can park your own car in multiple surface and above ground parking lots, or you can ride a bus from your Disney resort. Disney suggests you give yourself at least 60 minutes of travel time for arrival to your D. Springs destination. This way, you won’t miss out on festive events, shows or reservations.

The whole family snuck in their lunch; you can’t make that kinda stuff up. 40 years worth of trips to Orlando later, she is still trying to save money on vacations.
Amanda is a Disney Vacation Club Member and Annual Pass holder. Her amazing husband, band director Carl Major, plus three teen children and two dogs keep her busy.
