If you ever stared at a Disney World t-shirt you were just itching to buy, and then hesitantly decided to wait until your next vacation to actually make the purchase, then you just might be a Cheapskate Princess! Disney vacations are quite pricey, so you’re probably pretty frugal when it comes to buying souvenirs. Some years, I am just glad to be able to travel to Orlando, without even thinking about what souvenirs I’ll bring home.
With a gift shop at the end of every ride, sparkly and alluring merchandise items featured prominently at every resort, that fabulous Disney merchandise is going to tempt you at every turn. You can’t escape it, so you might as well embrace the time you’ll spend shopping. While the Disney t-shirt is not the least expensive souvenir to take home, there are excellent reasons to purchase a Disney parks exclusive t-shirt.
1. The Cost is not too bad.
As far as purchasing t-shirts at WDW, you can get a 12-18 month shirt for about $16.00
A child’s t-shirt starts around$24.99. This is the price range where the adult t-shirts start as well, though I have seen some for $27.99.”Parks Authentic” are what raise the price, because at the DisneyStore.com, shirts not marked parks authentic retail for $16.95, and sometimes you can find a $14.95 shirt on sale for at two for $20.
Men and women’s Parks Authentic t-shirts retail for $29.95, and I have seen some women’s specialty t’s start at $36.99.
A t-shirt for around 25 bucks isn’t going to break the bank, depending on how many you are purchasing. T-shirts happen to be half the cost of a Disney sweatshirt, which lists for $49.99 before taxes. A Star Wars Parks Authentic hoodie retails for $59.95.
Two t-shirts for the cost of one sweatshirt; dare I laughingly compare that to a Buy 1, Get 1 Free deal?
Remember that prices change frequently, and sometimes you can find shirts on sale, but these prices listed are probably solid starting points to get you prepared for the sticker shock.
2. Durability
I hear a lot of vacationers complain about the price of souvenirs, but it’s rare that people complain about the merchandise quality itself. You generally get what you pay for, and that $25 t-shirt will hold up for a good long time, provided you don’t wear it into the chlorinated pool at Typhoon Lagoon. A Disney t-shirt is a good quality item that should last for years.
3. A factor I call “adorability”
I admit, this Princess dreamed up that word just to describe the WDW t-shirts. There are some of the greatest Disney images, quotes, artwork, and character designs featured all over WDW t-shirts. And we know how the Disney Princesses are; your Disney friends will no-doubt be envious of you in your monorail t-shirt. The ladies at the beauty salon will marvel at your Minnie Mouse tee. And when they spot you at the outlet mall in your monorail t-shirt, shopping for bargains, they’ll all be searching for the nearest Disney Store, hoping to pick one up for themselves.
So there you have it, a great Disney souvenir for under $30 for adults and under $20 for small children. What a cool way to show your love for Disney, by wearing it to work, school, or over to hang out with your Disney-trip envious friends.
And you can always wear your shirt back to Disney on your next vacation…
