Sprinkles Cupcakes at Disney Springs: Go for the View but Skip the Cupcake

Sprinkles Cupcakes at Disney Springs

Updated for 2018!

Sprinkles opened in Disney Springs back in 2016. I love the name. Sprinkles sounds so happy! And while I am possibly the biggest cupcake fan who ever set foot on Disney property, my advice for the Sprinkles is to go for the view but skip the cupcake.

Nobody had their sugar-craving high hopes dashed like mine. So what happened?

best Disney World snacks under $10

Updated for 2018!

If you’ve been to Disney World before, there are several really yummy snacks that cost under $10 that would easily qualify for the “Best” snack you can buy on vacation.

Disney World Food Tip #9: Why You Should Share Dessert

Updated for 2018!

Everywhere you look at Walt Disney World, you will be surrounded by incredibly sweet snacks and desserts. They are inescapable on Main Street at Magic Kingdom, restaurants, Goofy’s Candy Co. at Disney Springs, and now there are even dessert cases in the resort gift shops. I joke that you cannot walk more than about 100 feet without running into something with sugar as a main ingredient.

But man oh man, you have to see those desserts! Chocolate-covered caramel apples, brownies, ice cream sundaes, Dole Whips, tropical icees, pastries, turnovers… the list just never ends.

Should you eat the whole thing yourself?

Disney World Food Tip #5: When to Schedule Your Best Times to Eat

When to eat meals at Disney World when to eat lunch at Disney, when to eat dinner at Disney

Updated for 2018!

Meal time can be what I call “crazy time” at Disney World. Do you want to dine at a resort restaurant or one of the food courts? Were you able to snag Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs) far enough in advance to book the actual restaurant where you really wanted to eat? Did you wind up standing in line at Casey’s Corner with 100 people after a Main Street parade? Did you have to leave your kids at a table by themselves so you could order the food?

Disney World Must Eat: Beaches & Cream Soda Shop for Ice Cream Fun!

Beaches and Cream Soda Shop, what is Disney's Kitchen Sink, the best Disney dessert, Disney ice cream

Updated for 2018!

If you ever cooked dinner at home for months and brought your lunch to work for weeks, in order to pay for some fun on vacation, you just might be a Cheapskate Princess. When you take those savings and spend more for ordinary items on vacation than you do in real life, then we call that a Cheapskate Princess Splurge.

This WDW food tip won’t save you any money. In fact, we’re going to encourage you to make a pit stop here just to spend more money. But it won’t be a tremendous amount, when you compare under $10 to character buffets and park tickets.

Welcome to Beaches and Cream Soda Shop, where you will certainly pay more for ice cream than simply buying your own gallon container at Walgreens, but what you are splurging on is the ice cream experience.  [Read more…]

Is Your Starbucks Coffee Habit Taking Money Out Of Your Disney Vacation Fund?

Walt Disney World coffee mug, Disney mug, Mickey Mouse mug, coffee mug, I drink coffee, Starbucks coffee at Disney World

Surely by now you have heard that Starbucks has landed at Walt Disney World. For a while, Starbucks was a huge topic of conversation on the Internet in the Disney community, because many life-long Disney fanatics do not handle change very well.  Starbucks has taken the Main Street Bakery over in the Magic Kingdom.  The shop closed in January of ’13 and re-opened open in early June of this year. Over at Epcot, Starbucks is now inside the Fountain View.

It’s not surprising that people have been worried about change, given that the Main Street Bakery is about as American as apple pie, or at least it’s a favorite spot to pick up a snack that has nothing to do with a “big corporation” company like Starbucks. Disney locations that are inhabited by Starbucks are expected to serve all the general items that Starbucks usually serves. Additional Starbucks locations for Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom should be announced soon. [Read more…]

Disney Food Tip #2: Adults Save Money Ordering This Meal!

O

Updated for 2017!

If you can remember sneaking food into the Disney theme parks back before it was officially OK’d, then you might have grown up to be a Cheapskate Princess! Walt Disney World has some of the best food around, yet dining at Disney certainly doesn’t come cheap.

Children under the age of three can eat free from an adult’s plate at WDW buffets. But unless your children are still of the “Kids Eat Free” age, or you managed schedule an Orlando vacation during the Free Dining promotion, then you will spend a lot of money on food for you and your whole family. Because I complain constantly that food at Disney just kills my cheapskate budget, I’m always looking for ways to lower my food bill. I would much rather spend money on other things besides my breakfast, like jewelry, or Disney handbags… [Read more…]
