Beach Princess: Saving Money on a Girls’ Weekend!

Caribe ResortJune 2016

Right next to the Pass Bridge in Orange Beach, Alabama, is a massive resort complex called Caribe the Resort. Located on over 30 acres of a peninsula, Caribe features more amenities than any resorts in the area, including 40,000 sq. feet of pools, lazy river, tennis courts, saunas and steam rooms, game room, and private beach cart service. There is a five-star restaurant next door called Cobalt. This beach getaway is absolutely amazing, and it’s also very expensive. Early summer rates per night start around $500-$600 and only go up from there.

Yikes.

What’s a great way to save money? Bring your girlfriends!

My husband and I are both public school teachers. Taking time off of school for travel during a time when many people are still in school and at work, say the week before or after Thanksgiving, can be next to impossible. Between football games and upcoming final exams, this is not a great time for a teacher to miss classes. So that leaves us having time off of work when many, many other people travel to Disney World. Beach Princess: Orange Beach’s Caribe Resort Truly Is Like No Other

Caribe ResortJune 2015

Sometimes it’s too expensive to visit Disney World every year, and lucky for me, I live a short 15 mile drive to two beach communities directly on the Gulf of Mexico. When a Disney Princess wants to spend time with friends and family without the long drive to Orlando, where is she to go?

Caribe, The Resort is one of the most fantastic resort properties in the State of Alabama, and in all honestly, I would put this vacation destination up against resorts in sunny Orlando as well. (Don’t tell Mickey.) [Read more…]
