Any other Disney movie fans out there? I got tired of paying retail for movies in a theater, and this month, eight movies have cost me $21.00. How did I do it?

I’m sure you’ve heard about all the different movie pass offers theaters are now offering potential ticket buyers to entice them to drive to an actual movie theater rather than watching something at home on Netflix. I’ve been following the MoviePass business plan concerns for months, and given that the closest participating theater near me is only nine miles away, we chose to purchase the AMC Stubs A-List movie pass.

AMC Stubs A-List allows you to see up to three movies a week; that could be 12 films a month if you are really serious about your movies or have a lot of free time on your hands.

The Details

See your movies any day of the week at any time.

See your movie the day it comes out in theaters.

See your movie in 3D, Imax and Dolby screenings.

Book reservations in advance if tickets are available for an upcoming movie; you can only hold up to three reservations at one time.

Your availability week will run from Friday through Thursday.

Now special events like Fathom Events, fan events, movie marathons and certain foreign films are not included in subscriptions. Honestly, this will probably never affect me anyway.

I don’t earn any sort of commission for recommending AMC. I’m paying full retail for my monthly subscription just like everybody else, but seeing how a movie ticket at my theater cost $7.99 each, I’ve saved a bundle with the A-List pass.

Right now, my eight movies have cost me roughly $2.75 each, for about 16 hours of entertainment not including the preview trailers.

Using the phone app. is super easy, and I’m admittedly not the most technologically savvy person. If I have no trouble, you’ll almost certainly find ordering tickets and making reservations for your tickets each week super easy.

In our first month we saw the following movies:

  • Incredibles 2
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp
  • Deadpool 2
  • Won’t You Be My Neighbor?
  • Mission: Impossible Fallout
  • Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
  • Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (saw it twice)
  • Disney’s Christopher Robin

For several of these movies, I would never have paid full price to see them in theaters. Sort of like the free Disney Dining offer, having the AMC Stubs A-List movie pass has changed the way I view seeing movie.

Suddenly, I’m not paying $8 to $10 a movie anymore, and I’m more likely to see a movie at night when the prices are at the highest in some theaters.

My teenage sons, who pay for their own subscriptions by the way, and I joke that this may be the best entertainment purchase we’ve ever made. And there’s some truth to this, if you know how hard it is to get teenagers away from their electronics and into a conversation these days.

Our closest AMC theater is a really nice, clean facility.

We even have a Ferris Wheel outside the theater. Now how cool is that?! Not that I can afford to ride it…

Movie fans, from where I’m sitting now in my local theater looking forward to the upcoming Mary Poppins movie and all sorts of Star Wars prequels, plus a live action Dumbo, things are certainly looking cheaper from my stadium seating in the back.

AMC is even running a special right now with the Disney princesses, with these movies will be re-released in theaters until October of 2018.
