Disney ferrytale wishes dessert party

Updated for 2018!

For those vacation planners looking for a different activity for an upcoming trip, Disney World has an unusual opportunity to see Magic Kingdom’s nightly fireworks show while enjoying yummy snacks and drinks courtesy of the Disney Chefs. While it’s a pricey experience, this event has the potential to make some lasting memories.

What is it?

Ferrytale Dessert and Fireworks Cruise lets you view fireworks from a completely different viewing location.

You’ll start out at the Transportation and Ticket Center for a refreshment before you board the iconic General Joe Potter ferryboat, named after the longtime Disney Legend.

Once you set sail, you’ll enjoy all sorts of amazing sweets specialty beverages—with or without alcohol. Each night offers its own splendid selection of treats.

In addition to desserts and drinks, this event also offers fun activities like a Glow-in-the-Dark Scavenger Hunt, where you’ll search for Hidden Mickeys throughout the Ferryboat. When the fireworks begin, you’ll receive a pair of “Mickey Vision” viewing lenses.

When do you board the ferry?

Guests will check in and board the ferry at the Ticket & Transportation Ferryboat Dock one hour and 15 minutes prior to each evening’s fireworks at Magic Kingdom.

Special December Show

In December, each fireworks cruise gets a special holiday touch. In 2017, these sailings were offered on December 1, 3, 8, 10 and 15. In December, you’ll enjoy the holiday fireworks spectacular and special seasonal desserts like holiday cookies and peppermint cheesecake, as well as hot cocoa with a variety of toppings.

The Cost

This is a special ticket event that takes place on select nights, so you will need to purchase tickets in advance.

The cost is $99 for guests over the age of nine and  $69 for children ages 3 to 9. These prices include taxes and your gratuity. This cost includes some special take-away surprises.

Annual Passholders can apply a discount by calling 407 WDW-DINE and Disney Vacation Club Members can apply a discount by calling Member Services.

Remember that all menu items and event experiences are subject to change without notice.

Is it worth the money?

The dessert parties inside the parks have been extremely popular.

I think it’s important to realize that no adult will really eat $100 worth of dessert. About the point I hit $10 worth of sugar, I would probably develop a stomach ache.

What you are paying for is an event, and special Disney events cost lots of money. Imagine a proposal aboard the ferry, or celebrating a birthday, or an anniversary, and compare that cost that with concert or sporting event tickets, and while not a deal, it certainly makes the cost seem more justifiable.
