Boma. The word is legendary for Disney World Foodies, known as one of the best buffets money can buy.
I am the opposite of a Disney Foodie; I am cheap and picky. This is problematic when making dinner reservation at Disney World. In researching Boma, African food and table service buffet prices are screaming “Run!” in my ears. But my husband and I enjoyed one of the best meals we’ve eaten on Disney property, even if it took me nearly 15 years to make a reservation there. We didn’t bring our teenage kids, who qualify as adults using Disney pricing guides. I was too cheap to pay for them, because they are perfectly happy eating McDonald’s chicken nuggets for a fraction of the cost.
The Animal Kingdom Lodge is spectacular, and if you spend any time in the lobby, you just can’t miss the smell of roasting meats. It is absolutely unbelievable how good the lobby of this resort smells. Boma is a a very unusual looking restaurant, different from the other resorts and certainly from other hotels you may visit. Under indoor thatched roofs, you will savor vibrant flavors from over 50 African countries right along with along with favorite American classics.
Wood, metal, stone, and cloth all blend together with the traditional smells and colors of Africa.
Boma, located inside Jambo House, was designed to resemble an open African marketplace, and food is prepared in full view of diners in open cooking areas.
Boma serves breakfast daily from 7:30 until 11:00 a.m. Starting with a cup of Kenyan AA coffee or tropical juice, you can enjoy a large breakfast buffet. Choose from made-to-order omelets, French toast, African pastries, carved ham, fresh fruit and corn beef bobotie, which is a type of South African quiche.

My husband and I had dinner, which seemed a tad more romantic (given how we had ditched the kids for shameless financial reasons) than either of the other two meals, which is served from 4:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.

In addition to fantastic meats, they also serves vegetarian specialties and fresh salads, and kids can enjoy options like chicken nuggets.
Guests 21 years of age and up delight in unique South African wines—many of which are available by the glass.
They have house-baked pastries that are delectable.

Reservations are recommended and can be made up to 180 days prior to your visit.
My meal was really great, for someone not willing to get very far out of my foodie comfort zone.
A Zebra Dome is an Amarula mousse dome covered with a chocolate ganache and striped like a zebra. The word on the street is the Zebra Domes are just amazing, and I would completely agree. I tried one thinking, it can’t be all that fantastic, and it was!
I could have made a meal from just those sweets.
There’s a table waiting for you. If you haven’t tried it yet, maybe it’s time to make those dining reservations!
Animal Kingdom Lodge is located next to Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. Guests and visitors have the opportunity to view grazing wildlife both outside the rooms and public areas in the resort within proximity of the animals. You feel like in an African savanna.
My advice? Don’t read the names of food you’ve never tried to decide you don’t like it. Make a reservation and give it a shot.
Thanks for stopping by, and we’ll see you loading your plate up with roasted meats and Zebra. I mean Zebra Domes!
