Shopping for Disney Souvenirs at Walmart Can Save You Money!

Disney merchandise is expensive. You’ll be purchasing a solid product, but the price tag reflects the quality.

A great way to purchase Disney souvenirs, either before or after your vacation, is to make a stop in Wal-Mart. You could actually shop in Orlando for souvenirs, because they sell way more than your local store, but try your local Wal-Mart any time of the year just to see what’s in stock.

Merchandise will change often, but these photos will show you what’s been available before stock changed or prices went up.

Don’t Throw Out Those Old Disney World Souvenirs Just Yet…

Disney Vacation Club

Several years ago, I played a game at a Disney Vacation Club meeting and won some cool DVC stuff, like a lunch bag, a bottle cover, and a license plate frame. That frame has graced my license plate for so long, the sun bleached out the letters. I contemplated throwing it away, but I have a hard time getting rid of sentimental items. Sound familiar?! After a quick peek on eBay, there are currently none of these frames for sale. And those DVC games are long gone.

The DVC license plate frames were never for sale to begin with, but it seems I can’t buy one if I wanted. Now this has turned into a cheapskate dilemma.

Disney Springs’ Boathouse Restaurant: Tips for Dining Under $20

Boathouse Restaurant at Disney Sorings for less

Updated for 2018!

I don’t mind admitting I was intimidated by the Boathouse restaurant at Disney Springs. The Internet was abuzz with chatter about the prices almost before the doors opened, and the menu just shouted fru fru to my immature pallet. Foodie is the last word people use to describe me, but we gave it a whirl on a trip to Orlando, with the intentions of seeing what you can get for under $20 a person. You won’t get a steak or a lobster, both of which they offer, but there’s definitely meals aplenty for under $20.

Cheapskate Princess Extravagance: Haunted Mansion Madame Leota Souvenirs by Dooney & Bourke

Updated for 2018!

The Haunted Mansion is a very popular ride at Disney World, and thanks to Dooney and Bourke, now you can feel at one with the spirits while you take Madame Leota with you all day. Prices are not for the cheap at heart, but especially with the handbags, if you take care of them, they can last for a lifetime of vacations.

While these styles are no longer for sale in 2018, you can get an idea regarding how much you’ll pay for Dooney and Bourke Handbags. And if you are heart broken you will be unable to make a purchase, I would definitely try eBay to see if someone has a gently used version for sale.

Doing Disney World for Less: Souvenir Picture Frames

Updated for 2018!

Souvenirs are expensive at Walt Disney World. It’s not like walking into Wal-mart of T.J. Maxx where items go on sale. There’s almost nothing on sale at WDW, and paying full retail price hurts.

I like to recommend that vacationers purchase souvenir items they can use every day at home, or at least something you can see every day, so you feel like you got the best use of your money. [Read more…]
