Disney Souvenirs Under $10? Lollipops!

Updated for 2018!

Disney World vacation souvenirs are expensive. As soon as you announce plans for your upcoming Orlando trip, friends will start casually saying, “Hey, bring me something back from Disney World.” Well, now the pressure is on, and you have to decide if you will spend the big bucks or look for small trinkets. $35 t-shirts and $59 sweatshirts will kill your budget; I don’t always fit those items in my budget for myself. You may need to purchase something way less expensive.

I spent a lot of time looking around the gift shops as a child in the 70s, and these sweet items remind me of childhood vacations munching on candy, one of the few items we could afford to buy in the parks on a 1st grade budget.

Say hello to the Disney Parks lollipops! [Read more…]

Pros and Cons of Staying Off Site at Disney World

disney-offsite-pros-and-cons

Planning a Disney vacation can be very overwhelming, especially considering where to stay in Orlando with so many options for all budgets and accommodation preferences. The first step in deciding where to stay should always be asking, “Do we stay on site at a Disney Resort or do we stay off site?” There are pros and cons staying off site at Disney World, while being in the middle of the magic at Disney World is fabulous and convenient, it comes with a price. On the flip side, off site resorts not operated by Disney or located outside the Disney World property can truly make a Disney vacation thrifty budget friendly, however sometimes offsite isn’t the best option.   [Read more…]

To Get FREE Disney Emojis, Play Disney Emoji Blitz!

get-free-disney-emojis-for-your-phone

Back in the summer of 2016, while cell phone game players were walking around like zombies collecting virtual Pokemons, I got busy winning Disney emojis I could send to my friends in texts. Granted, they are not a prize I can hold in my hand, but I can insert them into text after text, and there are hundreds to collect.

As soon as I saw the Disney emojis, I knew I had to have them, and two years later, I still play for new characters and emojis. And best of all, unless you just really feel the need to play extra games, the emojis are totally free!

Times Have Changed: Welcome to the New Era of Walt Disney World

New Disney World

Updated for 2017!

A while back, author and freelance writer  wrote an article for Huff Post Travel called, “For the First Time in Forever… I Did Not Enjoy My Vacation to Disney World.” She described how, as a life long Disney vacation traveler, her most recent trip to the Mouse House was not as enjoyable as she hoped for. “It’s simply gotten too big, too commercial, too regimented.” She noted that through the years, changes have been made which many long time Disney fans haven’t enjoyed so much. I’m here to tell you that my most recent trip was neither efficient nor pleasurable.

She provided several reasons why she didn’t have fun-fun-fun at the Happiest Place on Earth. And even after time has passed since she wrote the article, people have problems with some of her same issues.

Shopping for Disney Souvenirs at Walmart Can Save You Money!

Disney merchandise is expensive. You’ll be purchasing a solid product, but the price tag reflects the quality.

A great way to purchase Disney souvenirs, either before or after your vacation, is to make a stop in Wal-Mart. You could actually shop in Orlando for souvenirs, because they sell way more than your local store, but try your local Wal-Mart any time of the year just to see what’s in stock.

Merchandise will change often, but these photos will show you what’s been available before stock changed or prices went up.

Disney Vacation Must Have Snack: Joffrey’s

I seem to snack a lot on vacation. Sweet treats and snacks may not be all that healthy for you, but they cost less money, take up space as you wait for a larger real or buffet, and they just taste GREAT. Joffrey’s has started to become one of my favorites spots to pick up a snack, and Disney is adding more locations to make this easier.

My wallet may not be saying thanks but the old taste buds sure are.   [Read more…]

Disney Springs Must See: the D Living Store

Updated for 2017!

When people ask me what type of souvenirs they should buy on a Disney vacation, I always recommend purchasing something they can use every day, or at least see every day. We live in our homes, so it makes perfect sense Disney opened the D Living store in 2016 at Disney Springs, so they could show me all the fabulous home furnishings I can’t afford nor could I make look SO spectacular in my home.

Let’s take a look back to when the live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic Beauty and the Beast was released, Cast Members had the store decorated with all things beauty and beastly.    [Read more…]
