Times Have Changed: Welcome to the New Era of Walt Disney World

New Disney World

Updated for 2017!

A while back, author and freelance writer  wrote an article for Huff Post Travel called, “For the First Time in Forever… I Did Not Enjoy My Vacation to Disney World.” She described how, as a life long Disney vacation traveler, her most recent trip to the Mouse House was not as enjoyable as she hoped for. “It’s simply gotten too big, too commercial, too regimented.” She noted that through the years, changes have been made which many long time Disney fans haven’t enjoyed so much. I’m here to tell you that my most recent trip was neither efficient nor pleasurable.

She provided several reasons why she didn’t have fun-fun-fun at the Happiest Place on Earth. And even after time has passed since she wrote the article, people have problems with some of her same issues.

Pictures are priceless. They capture once in a lifetime moments, and they hold our memories for future years to come. Pictures are often the very best part of a vacation, and the photo opportunities at Disney World are completely above your normal activities.

The pictures you take during your Disney vacation are some of the greatest souvenirs you can possibly bring home. Should you take your own for free or pay for a professional service? [Read more…]

Shopping for Disney Souvenirs at Walmart Can Save You Money!

Disney merchandise is expensive. You’ll be purchasing a solid product, but the price tag reflects the quality.

A great way to purchase Disney souvenirs, either before or after your vacation, is to make a stop in Wal-Mart. You could actually shop in Orlando for souvenirs, because they sell way more than your local store, but try your local Wal-Mart any time of the year just to see what’s in stock.

Merchandise will change often, but these photos will show you what’s been available before stock changed or prices went up.

Disney Vacation Must Have Snack: Joffrey’s

I seem to snack a lot on vacation. Sweet treats and snacks may not be all that healthy for you, but they cost less money, take up space as you wait for a larger real or buffet, and they just taste GREAT. Joffrey’s has started to become one of my favorites spots to pick up a snack, and Disney is adding more locations to make this easier.

My wallet may not be saying thanks but the old taste buds sure are.   [Read more…]

Disney Springs Must See: the D Living Store

Updated for 2017!

When people ask me what type of souvenirs they should buy on a Disney vacation, I always recommend purchasing something they can use every day, or at least see every day. We live in our homes, so it makes perfect sense Disney opened the D Living store in 2016 at Disney Springs, so they could show me all the fabulous home furnishings I can’t afford nor could I make look SO spectacular in my home.

Let’s take a look back to when the live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic Beauty and the Beast was released, Cast Members had the store decorated with all things beauty and beastly.    [Read more…]

Visiting the Contemporary Resort is a must do.

You don’t have to pay for a room at the Contemporary Resort to look around, however, because you can resort hop. [Read more…]

Don’t Throw Out Those Old Disney World Souvenirs Just Yet…

Disney Vacation Club

Several years ago, I played a game at a Disney Vacation Club meeting and won some cool DVC stuff, like a lunch bag, a bottle cover, and a license plate frame. That frame has graced my license plate for so long, the sun bleached out the letters. I contemplated throwing it away, but I have a hard time getting rid of sentimental items. Sound familiar?! After a quick peek on eBay, there are currently none of these frames for sale. And those DVC games are long gone.

The DVC license plate frames were never for sale to begin with, but it seems I can’t buy one if I wanted. Now this has turned into a cheapskate dilemma.
