Sometimes it’s too expensive to visit Disney World every year, and lucky for me, I live a short 15 mile drive to two beach communities directly on the Gulf of Mexico. When a Disney Princess wants to spend time with friends and family without the long drive to Orlando, where is she to go?
Caribe, The Resort is one of the most fantastic resort properties in the State of Alabama, and in all honestly, I would put this vacation destination up against resorts in sunny Orlando as well. (Don’t tell Mickey.)
The buildings themselves are quite impressive, and while you are located close enough to walk to the beach on your own, there are trams that will carry you to a drop off point.
You can walk out on several of the boat slip walkways for a different viewpoint and fishing.
Our Condo
We rented a 2 bedroom unit in the first building, building B.
Living and dining room area.
Master Bedroom and bath
Guest Bedroom
I am an admitted lobby rat. My years of resort hopping across the Disney resorts taught me to appreciate both indoor and outdoor spaces while on vacation, and lobbies offer a laid back way to appreciate 14 stories without traveling to the top floor. Three buildings = three lobbies, all with a slightly different feel.
Incredible Pools
The pools are just as lovely at night, but finish your swimming by 10 p.m when they close.
Caribe in Winter
The beauty of staying at the beach in the winter is most people prefer beach climates in the summer, so the property is definitely not as crowded.
Cobalt
Within walking distance of any of the buildings but closer to building B is a restaurant called Cobalt.
It might sound a little crazy to get excited over a view of a bridge, but boats travel underneath all day long, and look at that sunset!

The whole family snuck in their lunch; you can’t make that kinda stuff up. 40 years worth of trips to Orlando later, she is still trying to save money on vacations.
Amanda is a Disney Vacation Club Member and Annual Pass holder. Her amazing husband, band director Carl Major, plus three teen children and two dogs keep her busy. Amanda teaches Leadership to high school seniors in the almost-coastal town of Foley, Alabama. Read about her cheapskating local vacations with this link. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, walking somewhere, or paddling a kayak. Life is indeed a blast.
