Updated for 2018!

Enjoying snacks is a very integral part of a Disney World vacation, but they are expensive and sweet. Like really sweet, as in sometimes too sweet to eat all by yourself without getting a stomach-ache.

This fits right into the cheapskate style of planning a vacation. Get ready for the BEST snacks you chould share with a friend to cut down on sugar and your costs.

1. Goofy’s Glacier

Goofy’s Glaciers are simply an ice-cold slushy style drink. Although these flavors can change without notice, they have remained pretty steady for the last several years.

  • Coca-Cola Cooler
  • Razzle Dazzle Pink
  • Orange You Happy Orange
  • Goofy Glacier Apple
  • Brrr-Banana
  • Gwarshly Berry Blue
  • Pucker Purple

You can also combine flavors to make your own special glacier.

The price for a standard cup is $4.79. They also offer glaciers in souvenir cups for $8.79 and $9.79.

The easiest way to grab a drink without paying park admission is to visit Goofy’s Candy Co. next door to Rainforest Cafe at Disney Springs. The phone number is 407- 939-6244 if you get lost, and the hours are 10 am to 11 pm, so you have plenty of time to stop in.

So you can indulge your sugar craving in more than one location on Walt Disney World property, they can also be purchased in Big Top Treats in the Fantasyland section of Magic Kingdom. With flavors like strawberry, blue raspberry, and lemonade, these drinks are slightly less expensive at $3.99 for a basic cup.

Grab a couple of straws and get to sharing!

2. Frozen Lemonades

Frozen lemonades are available throughout the parks and restaurants, and they run about $4. If you don’t want one all for yourself, these are nice to share on a hot day. I would share one on a cold day as well.

And a bonus is the cute straw you can take home with you.

3. Cupcakes

Although they are large enough to be a meal substitute for some people, cupcakes are a sizable snack, so grab that plastic fork and start cutting in halves or even (gasp!) fourths. Your Disney Visa Card will thank you when you get back from vacation, and your tummy will thank you as you approach your next meal, or your next snack, whichever comes first.

One of our favorite spots to grab a cupcake to share is the Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary Resort, one of the most interesting and iconic of all the Disney resort properties. You are sitting at a table, watching monorails zip by,  literally staring at Disney history live and large.

The cupcake selection at the Contemporary changes often and seasonally, and you can be assured of a fresh tasting cake. If you don’t see any in the case in the front, look in the case where they keep the bottled drinks.

The cupcake selection at many of the resorts and shops changes often as well, so it’s sort of up in the air as to the assortment you’ll find. Use this link for more info. and lots of pictures.

4. Chocolate Covered Caramel Apples

Chocolate covered caramel apples can be purchased at a multitude of locations these days. The Confectionary on Main Street and Big Top Treats in Magic Kingdom have apples for sale. Goofy’s Candy Co. and Candy Cauldron at Disney Springs always have a large assortment, with Goofy’s also giving you the opportunity to specialize your apple.

Depending on where they are sold, some stores will make the caramel apples right in front of you.

Apples are kept on shelves and in refrigerated cases, so you can buy one hot or cold.

Green Granny Smith apples are primarily used in the making of caramel apples. You can get an assortment of coatings for your apples, and these are some the more common offerings.

  • caramel alone
  • chocolate
  • chocolate chips
  • colored sugar
  • fudge stripes
  • marshmallows
  • mini M&M’s
  • nuts
  • sprinkles

5. Joffrey’s Pastries

You can purchase Joffrey’s coffee, beverages, and pastries at kiosks throughout Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and all Disney signature restaurants.

I know I shouldn’t get excited over a $4 pastry, but we don’t have a lot of bakeries where I live. Not only are these cinnamon rolls and doughnuts pretty large, they are also really good! Given that I am purchasing one from a Jeffries kiosk, I haven’t had a stale pastry yet. They are so sweet, I cut one in fourths once. My kids will tell you – it’s a snack, not a meal!

6. Starbucks Anything at Disney Springs

I know, I know, Starbucks are a dime a dozen these days. We have multiple Starbucks locations near my home, and grabbing a latte or mochachino is not a big deal while we are not on vacation. But I would eat or drink most anything at the Starbucks on the lake by the Characters in Flight balloon. So we don’t have to be specific with this suggestion; just order normal Starbucks food and drinks.

But go for the atmosphere. And the view.

7. Typhoon Lagoon Chocolate Sundae

I don’t hear or read a tremendous amount of information regarding Typhoon Lagoon on a regular basis unless they are opening a new slide. Perhaps it’s been around too long to be very interesting, or it’s primarily a summer place, or people don’t go there as often as the theme parks.

They have a little sweet shop by an entrance to the wave pool, pictured above, that serves what I consider to be THE best ice cream sundae on property. It’s under $6 and really a perfect size for two people to share without a tummy ache before you go back in the waves.

It’s perfect for sharing with two people.

8. Anything from Beaches & Cream

I thought I would let you see the pictures first, because words are almost unnecessary.

Beaches & Cream Soda Shop is a fabulous spot for good times and great food at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. With an old-fashioned soda fountain, you can also order American grill favorites like a burger and fries. This is casual dining with a beach atmosphere, located right behind the fabled Stormalong Bay Pool at the resort.

There are lots of desserts you can purchase, almost all of which are under ten dollars.

  • Milky Way Sundae: three scoops of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, caramel, and whipped cream $8.49
  • No Way Jose; peanut butter and hot fudge, chocolate and vanilla ice cream, peanut butter and chocolate morsels $8.49
  • Classic Banana Split: ripe banana, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream, pineapple, strawberry, and marshmallow topping, hot fudge, caramel, toasted almonds $8.49
  • Old Fashioned Sundae: Two scoops are $5.99, three scoops are $7.99, and extra toppings are $.99 each.
  • Fudge Mud Slide: brownie covered with hot fudge, three scoops of vanilla ice cream, Oreo cookies $8.49
  • Grilled Banana Bread and Peanut Butter: caramelized bananas, whipped cream, and a scoop of ice cream $6.49
  • Beaches Chocolate Cake: house-made seven-layer chocolate cake, served à la mode $6.49
  • Brownie À La Mode: brownie, hot fudge, and vanilla ice cream $6.49
  • Strawberry Shortcake: vanilla shortcake, strawberry compote, vanilla ice cream, and fresh whipped cream $6.49
  • Apple-Cranberry Pie: apples tossed with craisins and baked in a sugared pie crust, served à la mode $6.49
  • Mickey Mouse Sundae: one scoop of ice cream with Oreo’s and a cherry $4.49
  • The Famous Kitchen Sink: banana, cupcake, angel food, five scoops of ice cream, an entire can of whipped cream, brownie, candy bar, cookies, and all sorts of toppings, sprinkles, and morsels that feeds four or more $28.99

Now you’re craving something sweet, right?!

We usually recommend you bring one or two snacks with you into the parks for energy and to save money, and with the cash you save, buy yourself a Disney snack. Bonus points if you share it among your group.

But it’s ok if you enjoy a treat all for yourself.
