Updated for 2018!

Marriott’s Grand Hotel in Point Clear Alabama is a local landmark.

Located about a 6 minute drive Fairhope, Alabama, this property is one of the most beautiful resorts in the state of Alabama, perhaps even the south.

There are two renowned golf courses at the Lakewood Club or enjoy a game of tennis at one of their ten courts. For something more relaxing, you could spend the day at their 20,000 square-foot Grand Spa. You and the kids will have a blast at their stunning pool complex, or enjoy a swim along a small stretch of white sand beaches.

This has been one of my favorite places to walk throughout most of my adulthood. As you pass through the front of the Grand along the bay, this sidewalk turns into a “wooden” but mostly concrete walkway along the bay. From my car to the end of this path and back is usually a three mine round trip journey.

Let’s talk about those sunsets along Mobile Bay; rather, how about we let the pictures speak for themselves.

In 2018, there was a multi-million dollar renovation of the hotel lobby and many of the resort rooms. In a gift shop that once sold Brighton accessories and Lilly Pulitzer now resides a new cafe called the Marketplace Store.

These photos show prices of some food selections, which are not unreasonable given the coziness of the surroundings and a nice place to take a rest from your three mile walk in the air-conditioning.
