Meet a REAL Disney Princess without the price of a theme park ticket at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World.
For a very limited time, ending November 1, 2016, The World of Disney Store is hosting a “Royal Reception!” Between the times of 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, anyone visiting the beautiful new Disney Springs (formerly known as Downtown Disney) will get a chance to meet a SURPRISE PRINCESS, and it’s all completely for FREE.
Last week my family had a chance to visit the GORGEOUS New Disney Springs. We excitedly went into the World of Disney Store because I knew about this limited-time Royal Greeting. We headed to the Princess Section of the store, towards the back, which was all too familiar for our family. It is where the old Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique was formerly located and where we have made so many treasured memories; my daughter was transformed into a Princess there a couple of times. The new Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique now has a stand-alone expanded salon location in Disney Springs.
It is befitting for this temporary Royal Reception to be at the former Princess Makeover location, with the recognizable podium from the old Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique days. Here, Cast Members congregate happily and greet guests. We anxiously approached the Cast Members, asking if we could meet the surprise Princess for the day! A Cast Member warmly asked for our name and inquired about how many guests were in our party. I told them four in our family. They handed me a pager and instructed me to come back as soon as I hear a buzz.
It was wonderful to shop around The World of Disney Store and grab a Starbucks outside while we waited. The wait time was about 20 minutes, and as soon as we heard the buzzer, like the stroke of midnight, we hurried back.
We handed the pager to the Cast Members, and they led us to a small line with a partition so that the meeting of the Princess is still kept in suspense. While in the queue, there were only two other families. We were all trying to guess, by hearing the voice, who we would magically be greeted with.
Finally, when we were the next to see her, we were led around the corner, leading to a whimsy fairytale nook. SURPRISE, the Princess we were meeting was the LOVELY Snow White! My daughter was ecstatic to see her again, and it was my toddler’s first time meeting a real Disney Princess, although he enjoyed being more like one of the Dwarfs and sitting in her chair!
We were so thrilled about this particular Meet and Greet because we were not doing a ‘full’ Disney trip for this vacation. We have met Snow White and her fellow Princesses in previous years at the various Princess Character Meals around Walt Disney World and various resorts. For this trip, we attended the “Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party” at Magic Kingdom but didn’t have a chance to meet many Princesses. So it was such a magical treat to spend some one on one time with Snow White. The setting is really lovely and felt very intimate.
We didn’t feel rushed during our reception with her, and there is a Disney PhotoPass Photographer on hand to capture all the wonderful moments. We were also allowed to use our own camera and smartphones to take pictures.
As noted, there are other surprise Princesses that the Fairy Godmother has in store for guests to meet on a given day at this Royal Reception; they are Cinderella, Tiana, Aurora – Sleeping Beauty (which Princess Travel Expert Julie met a couple of weeks ago at this meet and greet) and of course Snow White.
This Royal Reception is such a budget-friendly way to meet a Princess! Like we mentioned, at Disney Springs, you don’t need a park ticket and parking is FREE. There are also shuttles to Disney Springs from the theme parks and resorts as well as surrounding hotels (please check the schedules). You also don’t need to pay for a meal like you do with a Disney Character Meal; however, with all the delicious offerings at Disney Springs, you will be sure to want to try at least one of the many restaurants in this incredible shopping and dining mecca within Walt Disney World property.
This is a limited time Royal Event, but there is such an interest in this Meet and Greet that fans of Walt Disney World are hoping they will keep this – happily ever after!
