Let me give you three words to describe Walt Disney World…fun, magical, and expensive, and those may not be in order of importance. Our most frequent questions at Cheapskate Princess revolve around how to save money for and on vacation. If you are taking a large group to Disney, renting a house could be a better option for you than putting everyone in individual hotel rooms.
In the summer of 2015, our family rented a five bedroom home at Reunion resort. Reunion is an exclusive, even gated, destination destination with over 2,200-acres. Just six miles from Walt Disney World and only 30 minutes from Orlando International Airport, you are very close to Disney property.
Renting a house like this, you may not need park tickets!
Did we mention golf at Reunion? There are three Signature golf courses designed by golf greats Palmer, Nicklaus and Watson.
In addition, there is an award-winning tennis center, full-service Spa, plus multiple pools. The Cove Pool Pavilion offers two jacuzzis, poolside dining, fantastic views of the golf courses, outdoor billiards and a game room. There are nine additional pools throughout the resort plus a water park.
Reunion rentals feature multi-bedroom homes with spacious living and dining areas, gourmet kitchens, patios and balconies. Each home is uniquely individual, including some that have private swimming pools, game rooms and even their own putting greens!
Let’s start with our favorite area, the pool! It’s really hot in Orlando during the summer, and when we weren’t at the parks, we swam a lot.
The outdoor area had a hot tub and an outdoor pool table.
There were a total of three full bathrooms in the house, with a half bath under the stairs, and get this – another half bath outside by the pool. No need to run inside to potty when there is an air-conditioned bathroom steps away from the pool.
We cooked on the grill and ate lunch by the pool.
Our home had a comfy living room breakfast nook and kitchen with granite countertops.
The dining room in our rental unit offered enough space for our family of five to have many dinners we cooked ourselves.
The master bedroom was downstairs, which included a full bathroom complete with large un-jetted tub, shower, and 3 sinks.
Upstairs was four more bedrooms and an open living room that would have been perfect for more kids to bunk directly on the floor in sleeping bags.
There were two full bathrooms upstairs.
