Here are six reasons why you should make a reservation for a haircut at the Harmony Barber Shop at the Magic Kingdom.
1. Great Place for a 1st Haircut
Cheapskate Princess Facebook fan Julie Beck sent us this photo of her daughter, and she told us about her experience taking a toddler for a trim.
“Here is my daughter Anne getting her first real haircut at the Harmony Barber Shop back in March 2011. I am the one with all the stickers. The Cast Member who worked with Anne was great, kept her distracted the whole time, and did a good job. Who can complain about a haircut AND Mickey ears for the price of just a haircut somewhere else. 🙂 We did the first appointment time of the day, so my son got a picture and an autograph with Daisy just outside during the wait. I am hoping to take their baby sister for her first cut there next spring.”
The “My 1st Haircut” service
Most parents know by now that getting really small children to sit for a hair cut is often difficult if not impossible. “First Haircuts” are the Harmony Barber Shop’s specialty. Young WDW guests who receive their first haircut at the Magic Kingdom barbershop are treated to surprises from “pixie dust” and bubbles to Mickey Mouse stickers. You also get an extra-special “My 1st Haircut” set of Mouse Ears and a certificate.
Have you priced Mouse Ear hats lately? This sounds like a fantastic deal for $19, with the haircut and hat combo, plus pixie dust, bubbles, and stickers. Cast Members may keep your child so distracted, there may not be time for the tears usually associated with first haircuts.
A haircut, a Mickey hat, and entertainment for $19. What a bargain!
2. They don’t just cut “male” hair at this barber shop.
3. This can become a tradition
4. This is a cheaper alternative to dressing like a Pirate or a Princess
“We started with this….”
“This is after the barbershop ladies did their magic!”
Here are My Dreams of Disney Facebook fan Crystal Summerlin’s kids after their haircuts. “Two happy kids after our visit at the Harmony Barber shop. My biggest regret about the shop is not knowing about it before I had my kiddos’ hair cut for the 1st time.” This is really a fabulous photo memory.
See, your little Disney Princess doesn’t have to be sporting the tight BBB bun and full length princess dress to be a princess at Disney World.
On a personal note, I need to find myself one of these great shirts!
5. Cool Way to Celebrate a Birthday!
Looking for a fun way to celebrate a birthday? First you need a FREE birthday button, and here’s where to find one, and what our fans thought about the buttons.
And then how about a haircut for that special day?!
Julie Delgadillo, My Dreams of Disney Facebook fan, sent in this photo of her birthday gal, complete with her princess tiara, which is not included in the haircut package.
When people ask if a Disney vacation is expensive, my stock answer is that everything costs more at Disney. From food, sunscreen, clothing to sometimes gas and groceries, depending on where you live, most everything will seem like it costs more than you normally pay. But check out these haircut prices. My haircut costs $25, while my husband’s haircut is $20, and my pre-teenage kids hair costs $15 for a cut. For me, haircuts on Main Street, U.S.A., may not save me time, but they would save me money.
6. Prices aren’t as inflated as other experiences
The Harmony Barbershop Price Menu
Adult haircuts: $19
Child haircuts: $15 for children 12 and under
“My 1st Haircut” package: $19
(Colored hair gel for $5 and beard and mustache trims for $10 are not on the services offered list since 2015, but it couldn’t hurt to call and check.)
