Updated for 2015!
If you have ever walked out of your way to hunt down something free to drink on vacation, then you just might be a Cheapskate Princess!
Free drinks and Disney World are not words you would not normally speak together in the same sentence. But Epcot has a semi-hidden gem that many of you princesses will overlook, because it’s not situated at the exit to any roller coaster, and there is no huge neon flashing sign. Which is a good thing, because that leaves more room for all the cheapskates at the drink fountains!
Where do you get free drinks at Epcot?
A little spot called Club Cool.
Where Do You Find Club Cool?
Locating Club Cool is actually not that difficult, but you do have to know what you are looking for. Walk into Epcot and head down the right side past Spaceship Earth. You can see it from the fountain before you head over to the World Showcase. This small “club,” which is really just a room, is found near the Innoventions Pavilion, and for those interested in Disney History, what was Ice Station Cool became Club Cool in 1995. Look for the Club Cool sign and arrive thirsty. That’s not hard to do in the sweltering Florida summers.
You will totally get a Princess workout walking through Epcot. Follow this shoe advice:
Seriously, the drinks are free?
I know, I didn’t believe Disney offered anything other than riding the Monorail for free, and half of us have to pay to park for that anyway. Club Cool is a showcase for Coca-Cola soft drinks from around the world. This is like a mini version of Atlanta’s World of Coke’s tasting area. Atlanta’s World of Coke has way more flavors, which actually overwhelmed me, so I really like the smaller, more intimate feel at Club Cool. You may not be looking for Coca-Cola merchandise at Disney, but Club Cool offers a fair selection to distract you from the drink machines.
Sample away, because it’s All-You-Care-To-Drink, and it’s totally FREE!
What Flavor Drinks Do They Have?
Eight flavors are available for sampling, and six of those eight were new starting in 2013.
Guarana Kuat from Brazil – A guarana berry flavored soft drink first launched in Brazil in 1997. The word guarana comes from the Guarani word guara-na, which translates to “fruit like the eyes of the people.”(New in 2013)
Inca Kola from Peru – Know as “The Taste of Peru”, this soda has an unusually sweet fruity flavor that many compare to the taste of liquid bubblegum. The name “Inca Kola” refers to the Quechua words for king and queen. (New in 2013)
Sparberry from Zimbabwe – A raspberry flavored cream soda, Sparberry launched in Africa in 1955. It is exclusively available in several countries in southeast Africa. (New in 2013)
Bibo from South Africa – Originally created in 1998, Bibo is a fruit flavored line of juice drinks popular in South Africa. The brand features fun characters such as Johnny Orange, Taka Strawberry and Paolo Peach. (New in 2013)
Fanta Melon Frosty from Thailand – This is the number one soft drink of Thailand. With a fun melon flavor, this carbonated beverage is beloved in Thailand’s sunny, tropical climate. (New in 2013)
Fanta Pineapple from Greece – With more than 90 distinct flavors available in more than 180 countries, Fanta made its European debut in the 1940′s and was introduced to the USA in 1960. Fanta Pineapple is caffeine-free and features a sweet pineapple taste. (New in 2013)
Beverly from Italy – Beverly, with its bitter flavor, is a popular non-alcoholic aperitif that stimulates the appetite before dinner.
VegitaBeta from Japan – In Japan, the interest in healthy consumption finds its ultimate expression in “Health” vending machines that dispense vitamin drinks like Vegitabeta.
Which one of these drinks has an unusual reputation?
I’m trying not to give too much away for those new to the “Drinks Around the World” at Club Cool, but go back and read the Beverly description. Have your friends try it first, and have your camera close at hand.
Here’s all you need to know about Beverly:
Free drinks at Epcot? You bet, and now you know where to find them. Come thirsty and leave with money in your wallet, unless you decide to buy one of Club Cool’s snacks or frozen drinks.
And it’s best to never take large drink containers or resort mugs with you into Club Cool to fill. Disney provides small sample cups. Grab some samples; you want to be a Cheapskate Princess, not have other vacationers waiting in line behind you labeling you as one!
If you have never seen Club Cool, here is a map. Just after the fountain, the small shop will be to your right, before you walk over to Showcase Plaza.
Thanks for stopping by, and we’ll see you at Epcot, headed for a sample of the Beverly, or maybe not…
